Massar Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Massar ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use the Massar mobile application and related services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It applies to our apps on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account and profile: Name, email address, phone number, and profile information you provide when you register or update your account.
  • Address and delivery: Shipping and delivery addresses you save for orders. Address data may be shared with our delivery partner (Oreem) to fulfil orders.
  • Orders and transactions: Order history, items purchased, and payment status. Payment card details are not stored by Massar; payments are processed securely by Gate-E (our payment service provider) in accordance with their privacy and security standards.
  • Subscriptions, events, and courses: Registration and participation data for subscriptions, events, and courses offered through the Massar platform.
  • Device and app usage: Device type (e.g. Android/iOS), device identifiers, and app usage data necessary to provide and improve the service.
  • Push notifications: If you enable notifications, we store and use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens to send you order updates, offers, and important service messages. You can disable notifications in your device or app settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and to provide the Massar marketplace (stores, products, orders, subscriptions, events, and courses).
  • To process payments via Gate-E and to arrange delivery via Oreem or other logistics partners.
  • To send you transactional messages (e.g. order confirmation, delivery status) and, with your consent, marketing or promotional communications.
  • To send push notifications via FCM when you have opted in.
  • To improve our app, fix issues, and comply with applicable laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

3. Data Sharing

We may share your information only as follows:

  • Service providers: With Gate-E (payments), Oreem (delivery), and Firebase/Google (push notifications and analytics), under contracts that protect your data.
  • Stores/vendors: Sellers on Massar receive only the information needed to fulfil your orders (e.g. name, phone, address).
  • Legal: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Payment data is handled by Gate-E in line with industry standards.

5. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information through the app (e.g. profile and account settings) or by contacting us. You may also opt out of marketing and manage push notification preferences in your device settings.

6. Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
